Qu’est ce que la force d’aimantation de référence (force d’arrachage) ?
Tous les aimants et produits magnétiques que vous trouverez sur notre site possèdent une force d’aimantation de référence dite d’arrachage, indiquée en kg. Cette force est une valeur maximale théorique obtenue en conditions de laboratoire. Selon les conditions d’utilisation de votre aimant, la puissance réelle de votre aimant sera susceptible de varier.
Cette force d'aimantation est différente du code de classification des aimants néodymes que vous retrouverez dans les caractéristiques techniques des aimants et qui prennent en compte des données telles que la rémanence ou le champ coercitif.
Vous trouverez ci-dessous des explications détaillées concernant le fonctionnement de la force magnétique pour vous aider à estimer la puissance dont vous avez besoin.
Comment est calculée la force d’aimantation de référence ?
La force d’aimantation de référence est calculée dans des conditions permettant une aimantation optimale :
L’aimant doit être en contact direct avec son support ferreux. Il n’y a pas d’objet, matière entre l’aimant et le support. Plus l’aimant et le support seront séparés, et moins la force d’aimantation sera importante.
Lors du calcul de puissance, le support de l’aimant est en fer doux pur, plat, et sans aspérité pour que la surface de contact entre l’aimant et son support soit maximale.
L’aimant est placé sur un support parallèle au sol de façon à ce que d’autres forces telles que la gravité n’interfèrent pas avec la puissance d’aimantation.
Lorsqu’un aimant est magnétisé sur un tableau mural ou sur une porte de frigo, la puissance d’aimantation réelle observée est beaucoup plus faible. La gravitation entraîne alors l’aimant vers le bas et engendre un glissement qui réduit la force d’aimantation. C’est ce qu’on appelle la force de cisaillement.
La force d’aimantation de référence que nous indiquons sur notre site ne prend pas en compte les contraintes citées ci-dessus pouvant altérer la puissance d’aimantation réelle.
Concrètement, à quoi correspond une force d’aimantation de référence de 1kg ?
Prenons un aimant néodyme en forme de crochet que l’on aimante sur un plafond en fer pur. Dans notre exemple, si le crochet a une force d’aimantation d’1kg, cela signifie que l’on pourrait théoriquement accrocher un objet pesant jusqu’à 1kg au bout du crochet sans que celui-ci se détache de son support.
Dans la pratique il faudra prendre en compte la qualité du support ferreux, son revêtement, le centre de gravité de l’objet, le parallélisme avec le sol, etc.
Pourquoi la force d’aimantation de référence ne correspond-elle pas toujours au poids qu’un aimant est capable de supporter ?
La force d’aimantation indiquée sur notre site est une valeur théorique maximale obtenue en condition de laboratoire. Dans la pratique, celle-ci variera sensiblement en fonction des conditions d’utilisation.
La puissance d’aimantation d’un aimant est réduite par des facteurs tels que :
- La force de cisaillement (le plus souvent il s’agit de la gravité),
- La surface de contact entre l’aimant et son support. Moins la surface est lisse et moins la puissance d’aimantation sera importante,
- La composition et l’épaisseur du support ferreux. Un support trop fin arrivera rapidement à saturation, ce qui laissera une partie du champ magnétique non exploitée,
- L’écart qu’il existe entre l’aimant et le support (peinture, feuille de papier, etc.). La puissance d’aimantation sera beaucoup plus faible si l’aimant n’est pas en contact direct avec son support.
La force d’arrachage, à quoi ça correspond ?
On parle de force d’arrachage lorsqu’une force s’applique perpendiculairement au support de l’aimant. C’est le cas par exemple lorsque la gravité exerce une force verticale sur un aimant fixé au plafond
La force d’arrachage correspond à la force nécessaire pour séparer l’aimant de son support lorsque la force est exercée perpendiculairement au support de l’aimant. Cette force se mesure en kg ou en Newton : une masse d’un kg correspondra à une force de 9,81 Newton dans le champ gravitationnel terrestre.
Qu’est-ce que la force de cisaillement ?
On parle de force de cisaillement lorsque une force s’applique parallèlement ou de façon oblique par rapport au support de l’aimant. C’est le cas par exemple lorsque la gravité exerce une force verticale sur un aimant fixé sur un mur. Dans ce cas précis, ce sont les frottements entre l’aimant et son support qui empêcheront l’aimant de glisser vers le sol.
Faites le test chez vous, il est bien plus facile de déplacer un aimant en le faisant glisser plutôt qu’en le tirant de son support (force d’arrachage).
De combien est réduite la force d’aimantation de référence d’un aimant soumis à une force de cisaillement ?
Un aimant soumis à une force de cisaillement possédera une puissance d’aimantation 5 à 10 fois moins importante que le même aimant soumis à une force d’arrachage.
Pour déterminer l’influence de la force de cisaillement, plusieurs facteurs entrent en jeu :
- Le centre de gravité de l’objet aimanté.
- La force de frottement entre l’aimant et le support.
Les frottements permettent de limiter cet effet de glissement et favorisent la puissance d’aimantation réelle. Plus les surfaces de contact seront rugueuses, et plus la force de frottement sera importante. La force de pression - c’est à dire la force avec laquelle les surface sont pressées l’une contre l’autre - influe également sur la puissance de la force de frottement.
Comment réduire l’impact de la force de cisaillement ?
Vous avez besoin d’un aimant qui sera soumis à des forces de cisaillement ? Il existe plusieurs possibilités pour vous garantir une puissance d’aimantation suffisante.
On peut dans un premier temps jouer sur la puissance d’aimantation. Plus l’aimant sera puissant, plus la force de pression sera importante entre l’aimant et son support, ce qui permet d’augmenter les frottements et de contrebalancer le glissement de la force de cisaillement.
Pour augmenter encore davantage les forces de frottement, nous avons conçu des produits magnétiques avec un revêtement en caoutchouc extrêmement rugueux.
Le caoutchouc crée un frottement important avec le support ferreux, et permet de conserver une bonne accroche malgré les forces de cisaillement.
Enfin, pour réduire encore l’impact de la force de cisaillement, nous proposons également des supports ferreux rugueux.
Ces aimants et supports rugueux réduiront légèrement la puissance d’aimantation en cas de force d’arrachage, mais l’augmenteront considérablement pour les forces de cisaillement.
Chaque contexte d’utilisation est différent, et il est compliqué de prévoir à l’avance la puissance d’aimantation dont vous aurez besoin.
